Guild President of UICT, Michael Nkwanga from Uganda Institute of Information and Communication Technology, recently carried out a charity visit to Nakivale Refugee Settlement under his corporate social responsibility of leadership in the community.
In this three-day charity outreach, he visited schools around the settlement, donating scholastic materials and inspiring the young child. He also created awareness about HIV/AIDS. The constituents of such outreach programs are tailored to promote education, peace, and settled harmonious living.
On the first day, he visited Hope Centre Nursery and Primary School and Malenzi Nursery and Primary School. He said the children are willing, love to learn, and able to do more if supported.
Amidst a lot of difficulty and numerous challenges, there is an unexplainable willingness, love, and urge to learn and attain education from these wonderful children. A lot of potential is hidden within them, and you shall be surprised by the wonderful things they will be able to do if only they are supported a little more,
Nkwanga Said
Nkwanga says that he is someone who serves and assists children in fulfilling their dreams. He added that refugees are the same, and the ability to hold hopes or dreams for themselves is possessed by them like other sincere mortals.
Committed and dedicated to serving the children of the world, one child at a time, one community at a time, and transforming the real reality of our people; they are our equals, with hearts that beat with all the hopes and dreams that we have,
He continues, “They are mothers who want to nurture; they are fathers who want to provide; they are sisters and brothers who laugh and love as well as children who deserve to grow up with promise and possibility. Yet a cruel turn of fate has destroyed their lives, leaving them helpless in an often-indifferent world.”
This will not be Nkwanga’s first such outreach event. Previous events have been carried out before, and many more are foreseen to take place in the future.
