On July 12th, 2024, there was a very enlightening Customer Care workshop held on behalf of UCU in the Principal’s Hall. Among these invited guests were renowned speakers like Ms. Golda Obama and Ms. Margaret Kiwanuka, whose presentations proved very impactful, inspiring, and engaging.
Golda and Margaret emphasized the importance of ensuring a respectful and good working environment both for the customers/clients and the employees. The two presenters founded their presentations on UCU core values: Christ-centeredness, Integrity, and Stewardship. They quoted scriptures such as Colossians 3:12:
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
This verse supported their arguments on the need to carry compassion, kindness, and humility in all interactions.
The speakers thus emphasized that customers should be treated with the exact concern and interest that Jesus showed in His service to people. They challenged all of them to practice these principles every day, that an atmosphere of concern and care may flourish on the university campus and surroundings.
The workshop made it very obvious to the participants just how customer care serves to uphold the values of UCU and enhance the general experience of both the clients and all employed staff. Continuation in entrenching respect and a culture of empathy ensures that UCU leads by example in offering a positive and nurturing environment for all.
