Brenda Nanyonjo, the CEO of Miss Uganda, has come out to respond to the recent claims by Lourine Winniefred Adyero, the reigning Miss Uganda North 2024/25. Adyero is a dramatic young lady who has been at the forefront in raising allegations of misconduct against the Miss Uganda pageant.
The beauty queen called out the organizers for favoritism and bribery in a recent social media post and further went on to accuse them of setting some contestants up for sex work. The accusations maligned controversy, especially given Adyero’s past dealings with the said pageant.
Brenda Nanyonjo has responded clearly to these allegations, asking people not to accuse the Miss Uganda organization of favoritism because it doesn’t exist. All contestants, from the beginning to the end, are given fair treatment and respect. Nanyonjo said that in the case of Adyero, it must have been a result of frustration after her elimination. She termed the accusations an attention-seeking stunt.
Nanyonjo elaborated on Adyero’s prior participation, stating that Adyero had been previously cut before the boot camp in one of the contests due to poor behavior coupled with constant lateness and an attitude of superiority. Nanyonjo threw jibes at Adyero, calling her a “mean girl” and insinuating that her outbursts on social media are a reflection of her real character.
Previously, there were controversies surrounding the Miss Uganda pageant, under which contestants and results were debated. On the other hand, Nanyonjo’s comments are simply an attempt at clearing the air and reaffirming integrity and fairness as guiding virtues for the pageant.
The pageant has been changing through the tides of time; the recent development will tell how this current situation may affect its reputation and operations.
