Uganda Christian University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, launched the “Global 5K Run” scheduled to take place on October 19, 2024. The exciting event aims to unite students, alumni, friends, and families from across the globe in a charitable cause to raise funds for students struggling with tuition fees.
The Global 5K Run is a one-day event, a challenge to run, jog, or walk in their communities wherever the participants may be. Whether it be on campus, in hometowns, or abroad, all UCU supporters are invited in this effort of helping ease the financial burden carried through students in need of tuition support.
At the launch, Prof. Mushengyezi explained that it was an event meant to foster community spirit and family solidarity within the UCU fraternity. “The Global 5K Run is more than a race; it’s an opportunity for us all to come together and support our fellow students in their journey,” he said.
All proceeds of the event shall be forwarded to the UCU Financial Aid Office, where it will be apportioned to students in need for tuition needs.
Registration to participate is available online at the UCU website, which also provides an opportunity for direct donations to the cause. It is envisioned that participants will help spread awareness and encourage others to give through social media posts about their race experience using the hashtag #UCUGlobal5K.
This event will be an interactive and meaningful day for the entire UCU community-encouraging physical activity, unity, and generosity.
