In a thrilling display of talent and an unwavering “will-power,” Uganda Christian University emerged victorious in the 6th Afro Varsity 3×3 Basketball Championship. This event was held from 27-28 July in Kampala, Uganda, where the final phase of competitions has left fans in awe as UCU defeated USIU Africa 21-12.
This championship this year saw some of the finest talents in university basketball in East Africa, showcasing top-class spirit and athletic expertise. Indeed, the final game between UCU and USIU Africa was evidence that the two competing teams were determined and so well-prepared for each other that they put their fans on their toes.
This win simply underlines the domination of UCU in regional 3×3 basketball and the rise of university sports in the African continent. With this year’s win at the 6th Afro Varsity, UCU joined those teams that have risen to the top in this fast-paced and dynamic format for basketball.
The event, engineered by FASU—the Federation of Africa University Sports—shall always be a clear opportunity for university athletes all over the continent of Africa to pool their regional rivalries and rising talents in basketball.
