To Makerere University Business School, security is not just a priority but a commitment to safeguarding the lives of over 20,000 students and 1,500 staff. This commitment was underpinned recently as the institution marked a milestone in its security operations.
Security Strengthened with Completion of Training
In a colourful ceremony, MUBS has awarded certificates to its security officers after completing a rigorous training programme. The move, part of an advanced security framework, is aimed at dealing with the threats more effectively.
The progress elated Prof. Muhwezi, a big bro at the institution.
As an institution with over 20,000 students and 1,500 staff, issues of safety and security are very important, therefore. Congratulations to all of you upon reaching the end of this training today. With this training given to our security team, we hope to seal up the gaps in our security and overcome various threats that exist within the institution. We also hope to equip our security team with the necessary ICT skills to cope with digital threats.
Prof. Muhwezi
Developing a Resilient Security Framework
The training was tailored to improve the usual security stance, with added emphasis on building capacity against digital security threats. This is very crucial in the dynamically changing threat landscape. It is envisioned that this initiative of MUBS will increase the capacity of the security team to become more resilient and adaptive.
The management of MUBS highly commended these officers for their commitment and successful completion of the training. They encouraged the officers to apply their newly acquired knowledge in daily tasks so that a secure environment can be maintained for everyone on campus.
Quotes from the Ceremony
Training is very fundamental in building and maintaining security. It brings about discipline, mental and physical readiness as well as enhancing patriotism. Indeed, training adds value to people and positions them for other higher levels of responsibility where they will continue adding value to the institution.
SP. Dennis Musinguzi, Chief Security Officer at MUBS
The successful completion of this training is an indication that MUBS is a proactive institution in terms of security and its commitment to creating a safe and secure learning environment. With the changing nature of threats, so too must the strategies against them. Development of the security team at MUBS is one step forward towards making the institution a safe haven for the academic community.
With these new skills and knowledge, security officers at MUBS will be better placed to handle both conventional and digital threats and hence provide a more secured and resilient campus environment.
