Lucky Jo, real name Aaca Lucky Joshua Iisa, has grown to become one of the most promising young artists in Uganda. Growing up with a huge passion for music, Lucky Jo’s path to stardom is a tale of talent and determination to be able to stay atop his love for the craft.
Born and raised in Kumi, Lucky Jo started his early education at Joy Christian School, then later moved to Greenhill Academy, and finished his secondary education at St. Mary’s Kitende. He later joined Taibah International School. All this while juggling his academic life, he never lost sight of his passion for music as he continued to enhance his talent.
Lucky Jo officially began his music career in 2021 with the release of his maiden single titled “Keity.” The song immediately gained favor with the youth all over Uganda, a surefire way to gain a strong fan base and point the way to rapid rise within the industry. It wasn’t very long until his talent was discovered, and collaborations with Ugandan artists such as Fik Fameica and Spice Diana further cemented his position within the industry.
Growing up in Kampala, the different musical styles Lucky Jo experienced shaped his unique sound. His music flows easily from one genre to another, reflecting the richness of culture that surrounded him. That is why his discography “Kampala Rush” through “Party Mix” “Mukwano” featuring Spice Diana, “This and That” featuring Fik Fameica, “Big Booty,” and “Melodies in My Heart” flows as smooth as he does.
That’s not to say that Lucky Jo doesn’t put in work; he consistently perfects his craft in the studio from dawn till dusk. Future collaborations with Rema and Winnie Nwagi go high on the radar as many fans wait with bated breath to see what more this young artiste might be working on.
Influenced both by the local and international icons, Lucky Jo draws inspirations from Ugandan legends that include Jose Chameleone, Winnie Nwagi, Ray G, Cindy, and the late Moze Radio. He looks up to international stars that include Burna Boy, Omah Lay, Justin Bieber, and Rema. These diverse influences have helped shape his music, making him a versatile and dynamic artist.
In addition to his music, one thing that Lucky Jo is passionate about is giving back to his community. He often performs at benefit concerts and uses his platform to bring awareness to significant social causes. His commitment to contributing positively to society is further expressed through the desire to be a good role model, especially for the Ugandan youths.
In his short career, Lucky Jo has been part of Uganda’s biggest events like Afro Palooza, Purple Party, and others that have taken place in his home region of Kumi. Even though he has risen to stardom so fast, he still keeps himself calm and able to handle other interests, such as swimming, dancing, and sports.
In a total of three years, Lucky Jo managed to make an impact in the industry through consistency, quality work, and a clear vision for the future. He is passionate about taking Ugandan music to the global stage, showing the unique Ugandan sound to the world.
