The Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eli Katunguka, has come out to quash reports that tuition was increased at the institution by rebutting the 50% increase reports. This declaration follows allegations that the same university, by the Guild President Mr. Mwebesa Reagan, had increased its tuition.
In the current update on X, Prof. Katunguka has firmly said there was no substantial increase in tuition fees, as opposed to the 50% rise claimed by Reagan, adding that what was effected were only moderate adjustments within the School of Management and Entrepreneurship and one program in Social Sciences.
These changes were to uphold the quality of education and to front new programs,
explained Prof. Katunguka.
He said that the adjustments were not very drastic and focused on the maintenance of educational standards for the university.
He also pointed out the affordability of Kyambogo University as compared to others. “Be informed that the university charges the least fees compared to other institutions,” he said. The assertion was meant to quash claims by pressure groups suggesting that the university was slowly becoming expensive.
The letter from the Vice Chancellor is aimed at clarifying the situation to students and at rubbishing the largely made allegations about unnecessarily inflated fee increment. Only time will tell how students will respond to these explanations with the contrasting declarations from the Guild President and the Vice Chancellor.
