Accordingly, 12 students have been formally summoned to appear before the Kyambago University Senate Examinations Committee on various allegations relating to examination malpractice. Students are expected to present their cases on 21st October 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Board Room.
The university has reiterated that this hearing forms part of its quest to uphold academic integrity. Among the students expected at the hearing are Gobola Sam, Atio Molly, and Okello Geoffrey, among others, who will have a chance to defend themselves before the council. Each student has been asked to pick up their charge sheet and invitation letter from the Examinations Division, Block 2, ahead of the meeting.
Failure to appear may result in the committee’s reaching a decision in the absence of the student, which may affect the student’s standing. The hearing is a critical opportunity for students to respond to the charges against them, explain misunderstandings, or appeal decisions of the committee.
This is among the many moves Kyambogo University has taken to ensure that all students adhere to examination regulations and malpractices are handled in a fair and transparent manner.
The students are advised, as the date of the hearing draws near, to prepare themselves well and make full use of the opportunity for defense and to present mitigating factors about their academic records or examination conduct.
