With the start of the 2024/25 season, Guinness Uganda is introducing an adrenaline-charged campaign, Guinness Match Day, designed to provide football fans across the country with an unforgettable viewing experience. As the official beer sponsor of the Premier League, Guinness is set to elevate the football fever with a series of thrilling activations and rewards throughout the season.
The launch took place at the rooftop of Garden City in Kampala on Saturday. Fans gathered for a fantastic evening of football, entertainment, and camaraderie. The event featured live analysis and commentary by some of Uganda’s top football pundits, interactive Premier League trivia, and “predict and win” contests, where many fans walked away with exclusive Guinness-branded merchandise and other exciting prizes.
The top prize in the Guinness Matchday campaign is an all-expenses-paid trip to the United Kingdom to watch your favorite Premier League team live. This competition will involve a series of lucky draws held during different activations, making every Guinness Matchday event even more exciting.
“The Guinness brand is really excited about this campaign and what it will mean for football lovers across Uganda. The Premier League is all about creating memorable experiences while bringing the fans closer to the beautiful game,” said Matilda Babuleka, Head of Beer at UBL. “This is a major milestone for us, and we’re excited to take football celebrations to every corner of Uganda, uniting fans with that energy and passion, which only Guinness can deliver,” Babuleka added.
The thrill of Guinness Matchday won’t stop in Kampala. The campaign is going on tour across Uganda, bringing this dynamic experience to football fans in major cities as well as smaller towns. Guinness will host viewing parties featuring expert match analysis, immersive fan experiences, and multiple chances to win exciting prizes.
“For us, it is all about the fans. We aren’t stopping in Kampala—we’re taking Guinness Matchday on the road to ensure that every football fan, in every corner of Uganda, gets to experience the same excitement and magic. We are putting Guinness Matchday on wheels and bringing it to you,” Babuleka said.
In addition to the nationwide tour, Guinness is partnering with fan clubs of some of the biggest Premier League teams to enhance the Matchday buzz. These partnerships will allow fans to gather with like-minded supporters, celebrating their teams in a vibrant, community-driven atmosphere that only Guinness can provide.
The launch event wasn’t just about football; it was a true celebration of Ugandan culture and entertainment. The atmosphere was electric, with fans dancing late into the night to performances by DJ Melvyn and Linda Dane, who played a lively mix of Amapiano, Kidandali, and Afrobeats.
Guinness Matchday is set to make this Premier League season the most thrilling and passionate one yet for football fans in Uganda, all while enjoying the perfect pint of Guinness.
