Makerere University College of Health Sciences hereby announces an opportunity that has come through the Office of the Dean for its 4th-year medical students to participate in global clinical rotations. The Student Exchange Program intends to expose medical students to various healthcare systems around the world.
This is according to a circular dated October 7, 2024, signed by Associate Prof. Mark KadduMukasa, the Deputy Dean of the School of Medicine, offering placements in such renowned institutions as Cambridge University in the UK, Yale University in the USA, and the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, that are meant to see students acquire hands-on experience in global health settings, thus preparing them for the challenge in modern healthcare systems.
The program will thus be offering fully and partially funded placements to accommodate students from a wide range of financial backgrounds, affording them this opportunity as an extended learning experience. Consequently, this will involve the meeting of specific academic eligibility criteria, including maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or above, with no retakes.
Successful students will be required to make a comprehensive application, which must include an expression of interest statement, a Curriculum Vitae, and an academic reference. Applications must be made no later than October 18, 2024, either in person to the international coordination office at MakCHS or by email, at Internationaloffice.cits@mak.ac.ug.
This is an effort to show the commitment of Makerere University toward providing students with the right expertise and knowledge for the delivery of health-care services wherever they may be in the world, while at the same time offering them opportunities for international exposure that can expand their medical expertise and perspectives.
