On this occasion of World Tourism Day, Miss Tourism Uganda Pearl of Africa were awarded special acknowledgements from the Uganda Tourism Board for continued efforts toward the country’s tourism. This was in pride not only for the organization but also for one of the representatives of the organization, Alison Mary Akello, who showcased Uganda on a larger continental stage.
Akello was sent to Nigeria for representation at the most prestigious Miss Tourism Africa 2024 pageant, where she left her mark indeed. She competed with Tourism Queens drawn from other different African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritius, Chad, Namibia, and Mozambique, and outcompeted them to secure the position of 2nd runner-up, which turned out very fulfilling in a very competitive environment.
This was a surprise for many since, among the newly crowned Miss Tourism Uganda contestants, she was the outgoing queen. The trust and confidence that Akello was awarded by the organization find expression in the fact that just in a few months from the grand finale, she would represent Uganda at the continental level.
Even before being crowned 2nd runner-up, Akello shone bright as the people’s favorite, since she was voted Miss Popularity by the public through a voting platform. This acknowledgment showed her strong online presence and reflection of the support from the fans, further sealing her position as an ambassador for Ugandan tourism.
The grand finale winner of the pageant was Namibia’s Ndinelago ‘Ndina’ Emosho, who took the crown for Miss Tourism Africa 2024/25, with cash prize winnings of Shs7.3 million among many other valuable prizes.
Put together by Miss Tourism Africa, the event has grown to be a significant platform where African culture, tourism, and unity are celebrated. The strong representation of Uganda by Alison Mary Akello has been one of those representations that not only showcased the beauty of this country on the international scene but has made some contribution to the global appreciation of the rich cultural diversity of Africa.
This feat is yet another feather in the cap of Miss Tourism Uganda Pearl of Africa, which has continued to play a very vital role in showcasing Uganda’s tourism and talent at continental levels. For sure, with these accolades, the Miss Tourism Uganda brand is bound to inspire yet more young Ugandans to take pride in their culture, beauty, and tourism heritage.
