Makerere University has announced the expansion of its student work-study scheme, targeting more jobs for its students.
This follows last month’s introduction of the pioneer 20 beneficiaries of the scheme who started work as Hall attendants. The initiative gives students work experience and an opportunity to earn some income to top up on their tuition.
Carlcare Services Limited, one of the partners in this expansion, hereby declared that it is going to create 10 new opportunities in its sales force department for work-study students. Also, such opportunities would mean work exposure in a corporate setting for them, to supplement their skills and increase their employability after graduation.
Eligibility Requirements: Students applying for the work-study scheme must meet the following requirements:
- The applicant must be a registered continuing student at Makerere University.
- The applicant should be enrolled in the Evening Program.
- The applicant should have at least a CGPA of 2.8 and be on normal academic progress.
- The applicant should not be in receipt of any other scholarship.
- The applicant shall show interest in work and the ability to adapt to different working environments.
Application Process: Qualified and interested students should forward their applications, compiled into one PDF document, comprising a cover letter addressed to the Human Resource Manager, Carlcare Services Limited, their CV, admission letter, and a signed and stamped testimonial.
Applications should be forwarded to the contacts below: annet.luviga@transsion.com and Namutebi.polline@transsion.com. The deadline for receipt of applications will be Wednesday, 4th September 2024, before 5:00 PM.
Applicants may address further inquiries and requests for assistance to the Coordinator of the Students Work Scheme or the Human Resource Officer at Carlcare Services.
On one hand, this Makerere University initiative is meant to ease the financial burden on students; on the other, it equips these young people with practical skills and experience that will benefit them in their future careers. This goes to show that the university remains committed to fostering both academic and professional growth among its students through such initiatives.
