The Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University, Prof. Eli Katunguka, revealed several facts in huge figures about the tuition fees in the forthcoming academic year 2024/2025 in a notice titled “Tuition Increment Concern” written in the memory of a different recent letter signed by the Guild President H.E Mwebesa Reagan.
Key General Points on the Tuition Fee Changes
Background and Rationale
The Vice Chancellor, in his address letter, recognizes the apparent concern raised by the student fraternity in relation to the newly proposed fee increment. This has been introduced following an extensive review of all university programs and the inclusion of new academic programs.
The University Council considered the revised fees structure and adopted it in its meeting dated 27th April 2023. The University followed this step after giving enough thought to the financial implications and livelier learning infrastructure and resources the institution opted to provide.
Applicability Date:
The new tuition fees structure will take effect for new students joining in the academic year 2024/2025. However, observe that the implementation of this structure will apply to all new students joining the beginning of each academic year. Continuing students will be informed about implementing any progressive changes relevant to their studies.
The Vice Chancellor has assured the student community that deciding on whether to validate any uplift of tuition fees was not an easy task. The administration has been lenient to keep the ways of communication open and support the students affected by the same.
The university will continue to pay close attention to the delivery of quality education and will see that all programs are well funded to achieve academic standards. Further clarification and concern on the new structure of tuition fees can be accessed at the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
