Uganda Christian University held the 25th graduation ceremony at its main campus, Mukono, Kampala, a high moment it accorded 1,160 graduating students. The event, held on July 5, 2024, saw a diverse group of graduates from various disciplines step forward to receive their diplomas and degrees.
Among them were 538 males and 622 female graduands. Twenty-four students graduated with first class, with 14 females and 11 males among the recipients of the award.
Highlights of the Ceremony
Top Achievements: Sarah Nsereko emerged as the overall best student; she scored a CGPA of 4.72 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Timothy Ddumba, the former UCU Guild President, came as the best student in the male category with a CGPA of 4.64, graduating in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
Guest of Honor: Prof. Daniel Asua Wubah, President of Millersville University of Pennsylvania was the keynote speaker, challenging the graduates to be agents of positive change in their communities.
Varsity Chancellor’s Address: His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu applauded the Vice Chancellor and the entire UCU staff for their selfless, tireless effort in running the institution towards better heights.
The achievements shared by UCU included this university’s distinction as the overall “Best Exhibitor” at the National Council for Higher Education Exhibition for six years in a row, newly accredited programs, sports achievements, and the different campus developments currently underway.
Future Directions
The ceremony was a celebration of academic excellence, but more than that, it put forth what leadership, service, and continuous learning nurture in UCU graduates. Thus, with the knowledge and skills accredited to them by UCU, the graduates are going to contribute greatly in their communities and beyond.
