The celebrity couple, Zari Hassan and Shakib Lutaaya, is facing the wake of a relationship storm triggered by an unannounced visit by Zari’s ex, renowned Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz.
It all began when Diamond went to Zari’s base in South Africa to celebrate the birthday of their daughter Latifah. This seemingly shocked Shakib, who is based in Kampala, as he claims Zari did not tell him about the visit. He showed anger over Zari’s move, arguing that she might still be in love with her ex.
Zari narrated the situation during a live stream, where she revealed what Shakib accused her of and frustrated her, asking her why she did not tell them about Diamond’s plan and whether, in fact, she was reverting to her old feelings.
Zari claimed that she was not aware of Diamond’s visit until the drama unfolded. She said that the visit had been organized by the people who were staying at her house because Diamond could not reach her personally while Shakib was present at home. To facilitate communication between Diamond and their children, Zari gave out the contacts of one of her housemaids, who in turn facilitated the entry of Diamond into the apartment.
Despite Shakib’s claims, Zari remained firm in her stance. She said that she was not in a position to stop Diamond from attending the party of his children, not forgetting that he remained committed to providing for them financially; in fact, he had contributed to the birthday party arrangements. So, according to Zari, her interaction with Diamond was purely because of the children, and there was nothing she could do in terms of managing his coming to the party.
No doubt, the incident strained the relationship of Zari and Shakib in some way and spotlights the complex situation of juggling an ex-lover and having a new relationship.
