The memo from the Office of the Minister for Academic Affairs at Makerere University addresses a number of important matters that current students and prospective students should take note of. Here are the key updates:
- Application Deadlines:
Direct Entry and Mature Age Entry: Applications are still open for these; however, the closing date for both categories is July 26, 2024. Note that some courses have been re-advertised for direct entry. - Admission Letters for Diploma Entrants:
Government students can now download admission letters. Private students need to confirm their results to enable them to access the provisional admission letters. Confirmation services are availed at the Senate Building, Level 5, Room 515. - Postgraduate Admission Lists:
The postgraduate admission lists are still being processed. Some reasonable progress has been achieved on these as well. - Curriculum Revisions:
Some programs like BIST, BIC, BYW and BADR, are under curriculum review. That is why admission into these programmes have been suspended. - Display of Results and Recess Registration:
Those students who could not display their results due to pending recess semester registration should report to their college registrars for assistance. - Transcript Certification:
Authentication of transcripts is done at the Senate Building, Level 5, Room 513. Students have been forewarned about the internet fraudsters who claim to be able to process transcripts via the internet. - Outstanding Tuition Balances:
No transcripts shall be issued in case of outstanding tuition balances, even when results are out. - Orientation and Start of Academic Year:
The Freshers’ Orientation Week begins on August 3, 2024, and shall be crowned with a special Central Orientation Program at the Freedom Square on August 5, 2024, commencing at 8:00 AM. Lectures for the new academic year start on August 12, 2024.
