ITHUBA Uganda, the licensed operator of the Uganda National Lottery, issued an exciting update in the turn of events for the very first two winners of the record UGX 1 billion LOTTO jackpot drawn on 3 August 2024. Samuel Mbonimpa, aged 30 years and a mason from Kyazanga, Lwengo District, and Zeverio Namisi, aged 27 from Kawempe, working in a factory, have emerged as the lucky winners of the monumental prize.
Samuel Mbonimpa of Kyazanga, a mason, has for the first time traveled to Kampala to claim his share of the jackpot. He played LOTTO Draw 17 with the USSD code *278#. Mbonimpa successfully matched four out of the six winning numbers, securing his share of UGX 932,340,000, which will be shared among five winners.
Zeverio Namisi: Working as a factory loader in Kawempe, Namisi won over UGX 186 million with a modest wage of UGX 9000 at a Kenkom shop. Excitement was a clear feature on his face when he came to collect his windfall in yet another major win by the factory worker.
Michelle Van Trotsenburg, the Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at ITHUBA Uganda, congratulated the winners and showed pride in celebrating this very important milestone. “We are beyond thrilled to be able to share in this life-changing moment with our winners of Uganda’s biggest LOTTO jackpot ever. This truly is testimony to the trust Ugandans have placed in our National Lottery, having achieved this within nine weeks from June 1, 2024, when we began ticket sales,” she said.
Winners are invited to check and process their prizes at ITHUBA Uganda’s offices. In case you feel you are among the jackpot winners or have played any of the previous draws, you can check your numbers on the ITHUBA ticket checker or at any registered retailer.
